Unfortunately, in the field of business, and the "political correctness" of the day being labeled a "Christian motivational speaker" is potentially dangerous to my career as a corporate motivational speaker. My philosophy is simple. If a client thinks, "Gosh he is a Christian. We can't have a Christian motivational speaker at our event." Then it is simple, I should not be there.
I believe that most of the success principles of the day ALL are based on principles from scripture. I simply use those principles as a corporate motivational speaker. In a corporate or association environment I do not deliver my testimony from the front of the room. That would not be appropriate in that environment.
In a corporate environment no one will take offense with my message, but it is always my fellow Christians who understand where I am coming from and come to thank me after my talk for not being afraid to quote scripture and give credit for my blessings.
I have now done over 943 events the last 17 years and I have never had a meeting planner who hired me say I crossed the line. I understand the constraints that companies are under today if they bring in a motivational speaker who is a Christian.
If I have the green light from the meeting planner or I am doing an event for an organization like the Wisconsin Association of Homes and Services for the Aging than I will approach it differently. My proudest moment in my career came after that event when a priest approached me and said I was a "shining light for the Holy Spirit." You never forget a moment like that and it gives me a reputation to live up to that I strive for every day.
